AFL injured Hawthorn star Chad Wingard earns one-year deal

Hawthorn have put their religion in injured ahead Chad Wingard, handing the veteran a one-year contract extension regardless of his long-term Achilles tendon harm.

Wingard’s future was in grave doubt after rupturing his Achilles within the membership’s Spherical 22 win over the Western Bulldogs.

Out of contract and going through a nine-month restoration interval, Wingard was at risk of getting his AFL profession ended prematurely.

However the 30-year-old would have been stuffed with smiles after the Hawks handed him a one-year extension on Friday.

Hawthorn’s membership physician Liam West stated Wingard underwent a profitable surgical procedure late final month and the stylish ahead would look to renew operating within the pre-season.

“The surgeon was actually happy with how the operation went, Chad had a extremely robust restore of his Achilles,” West stated in a press release.

“He’s already doing very well together with his rehabilitation and we hope that he’ll return to operating late within the pre-season, with timelines to turn into clearer as his rehabilitation progresses.”

The 2-time All Australian has performed 71 video games for the Hawks since becoming a member of the membership from Port Adelaide previous to the 2019 season.
